January 29, 1936 – December 6, 2024
A beautiful soul has left us, but wonderful memories will keep us smiling through our tears.
Eunice was a loving and supportive wife to Murray for over 68 years. A loving mother and friend to Laurie and adoring mother-in-law to Jimmy. She was the giver of unconditional love and sage advice to her grandchildren Matthew (Stephanie) and Brenna and was a completely smitten Grandma-Great to Leah, Avery, the late Eloria, and Brenson.
Eunice was born in Matheson, Ontario to Maurice and Marguerite Leavoy, the second of eight children. She was a loving sister to the late Shirley (late Allan), late Roger (Norma), late Gordie (late Toini), late Gwen (late Jack), Jenette (late Marcel), Raymond (Pat), and Garnet (Estelle). Eunice was a loving Aunt to many.
“Euni” was a dynamo in small package. Although she was the smallest in stature of her family, her brothers always said she kept them all in line. She was a leader and made herself available to her siblings whenever they needed her. Her brother Raymond believes she is in heaven getting the place in order. The family would like to thank her brothers Raymond and Garnet, and her niece Donna for all their calls and visits, they gave her great pleasure.
Family was the most important part of her life. Eunice was loving, kind, and smart; however, she was so much more. A good friend, a wonderful nurse for over 30 years, a talented seamstress of beautiful clothing and draperies, an upholsterer, a fierce card shark, a talented watercolorist, and more. She could do anything she put her mind to. We were in awe of her many talents.
During the last ten years Eunice endured unsuccessful surgeries and unrelenting pain with acceptance and grace. She acknowledged the pain, but her focus remained firmly on her family. We, her family, will try to live up to her example, but acknowledge that we will fall short.
Over the last year of her life, she needed assistance. Heartfelt thanks to Mae, Bev, Cindy, Liz, Cathy, and Brandi for their care and kindness. Thank you to Rayanne in the SAH-ER for the care and support provided to Eunice and her family. Finally, to the staff on SAH– 3B, especially Marina and Maria, thank you for your gentle care and compassion.
Eunice did not want a funeral service.
