Eugene McCambridge passed peacefully at the Ottawa Heart Institute on April 2, 2023 with his wife and sons by his side. Gene was predeceased by his parents, Mary Ellen and John and his siblings Thomas, Anna May, John and Charles. He is survived by siblings Malcolm, Ellen and Adele. Gene, age 83 was the beloved husband of Lesley, and father to Patrick, Catherine (Steven) and Brian (Jennifer). Loving Pappa to Liam, Gabe and Ivory. Gene taught for many years for the St. Laurent Catholic School Board in Quebec, followed by the Durham Catholic School Board in Ontario. He was a teacher and mentor his whole life, always searching for ways to further gain knowledge and to pass it on. He loved all water activities, painting, carving, camping, adventuring! There was never a dull moment or lack of laughter in a life with Gene.
Visitation will take place on April 11 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Heubner Funeral Home Barry’s Bay. Donations to St. Francis Healthcare Foundation or the Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated by the family.
