Errol LaCroix, 80, of Okotoks, AB, Canada, passed away on June 11, 2023, due to complications during his battle with cancer.
Errol was born on June 2, 1943, to Conrad and Helene LaCroix in Regina SK. In 1962 at Penley’s Dance Hall, he met Donna Schimke, who would become the love of Errol’s life. Even though they were apart for many years, they found each other again, and married on December 14, 1974. Raising their three daughters, they would spend the next 48 years being each other’s best friend. They supported each other through all of life’s trials and tribulations knowing their love would see them through.
Errol was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was forever proud of his daughters April, Dawn, and Angie. His number one priority has always been to love, guide, and support his girls.
Everything Errol did in life, he did with passion. His love of music started as a teenager. He was the lead singer in several bands including The Masquerades, Extension, and several other musical talents in between. His love of painting, drawing, and creating artwork for his family and friends transformed into what would become Spirit Rock Art. In each of the pieces he created you could see not only his passion, but his heart. Errol’s love of vehicles also was shown through his artwork, designing cars that would rival any auto manufacturer to this day. His knowledge of cars, trucks, or motorcycles could put any salesman to shame.
Anyone who knew Errol knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Errol was predeceased by his father Conrad, his mother Helene. Also, by the two people he thought of as his second parents, Auntie Inga and Uncle Jack, as well as several other relatives. He is survived by his loving wife Donna, his devoted daughters, April (Vince)(Shane), Dawn, Angie (Russ). His beautiful grandchildren, Anthony (Cindy), Randy. Alicia (Steve), Nicole (Greg). Natasha (Grant), Shaw (Christina), Cierra (Cody). As well as his adoring great grandchildren, London, Lincoln, Reid, Ella, and Isaiah.
The family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the South Health Campus Emergency and ICU doctors and nurses. The care and compassion they gave Errol, as well as his family will be forever remembered in this very difficult time.
There will be a Celebration of Life to honour Errol on July 8, 2023, at the Crystal Ridge Golf Course from 1-4 pm. As Errol was a lover of Hawaiian shirts, and believed people should be comfortable in what they wear, we are requesting that anyone attending wear something that makes you comfortable and/or that reminds you of Errol. We would like to invite anyone with pictures or stories about Errol that they would like to share, please feel free to bring them to the Celebration of Life.
Out of respect for Errol’s final wishes, the family is requesting that his obituary not be shared on any social media outlets. Thank you for your understanding.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, or charity of your choice.
