With sadness we announce the passing of Ernest “Ernie” Lasson at the Health Sciences Centre on November 5, 2024 at the age of 77 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Shelley Lake (Dana Kulba), grandchildren Zachary Lake, Shianne Lake and Tristen Kulba, mother of their children Adrienne Lasson, sister Beverley Philippe and special friend Gilbert Allec. He also leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Ernie was predeceased by his parents Louis Sr. and Margaret Lasson, baby Julia Lasson, sister Jean (Bill Tait), brother Louis (Iona) Lasson and his loving son Ronald Lasson and granddaughter Sierra Lake.
Ernie had a big heart when it came to anything his children and grandchildren needed, they got it. Including a cat Shianne wanted and grandpa raised “Keila” until he passed. He grew up in Lakeland and worked on the family farm, then moved to Portage and continued his career at CN Railway, working there until his retirement.
A funeral service will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 1:00 pm, with viewing prior to the service. Burial will take place at Lakeland Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Ernie’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 1379 Kenaston Boulevard Winnipeg, MB R3P 2T5.
