A husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on October 25, 2023.
Known for his love of curling and his long-time service to others through the Knights of Columbus that has left an impact and will continue to echo in the hearts of all that knew him.
Predeceased by his first wife Irene (nee Villeneuve) and one of her twin daughters also named Irene who sadly passed away 6 days after birth.
Survived by his second wife Colleen (nee Warner) who stood by his side and supported him through life’s tasks for 53 years. She mourns the loss of a devoted husband and a wonderful partner.
His daughter Colleen Sloan also survives him. She holds memories of her Father in her heart, a sanctuary where love for her late Mother and sister reside.
In addition he leaves behind 2 grandchildren, Curtis and Tyler Sloan, they fondly remember their grandfathers wisdom, laughter and his love for life’s simple joys.
Elwood’s memory will continue to live in the hearts of his siblings Eleanor Taylor, Erma Avon (George), Elaine Tucker and Cecil (Gillian).
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 153 Woodroffe Ave, Ottawa at 11 a.m. Reception to follow. Burial will take place at Capital Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
