Elsie Naomi Rideout (nee Elliott), aged 90, passed peacefully away at A.M. Guy Memorial Health Centre on August 28, 2023, in the presence of loved ones.
Elsie was born in Winterbrook but spent most of her younger years in Sandringham and was one of four children. She moved to Buchans in 1958 to work in the hotel. Shortly after she met and fell in love with Reginald. They were married on August 2, 1959 and had three children. Elsie loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren.
Elsie is predeceased by parents John and Florence Lily, her husband Reginald and siblings Llewellyn, Phoebe (Cyril) and Leonard.
Leaving to mourn with loving memories are her children Claude (Karen), Melva and Reg. Grandchildren Krista (Dave), Paul (Dawn) and Kelsey (Andrew). Great-grandchildren Chase, Owen and Dylan. Sister-in- law Gladys, Marg (Ivan) and Pearl as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.
Her family are forever thankful to the staff at A.M. Guy Memorial Health Centre for the care she received over the last seven years and the compassion shown in her final days.
Resting at the Salvation Army Citadel in Buchans, NL. Visitation on September 1, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00. Funeral service will be conducted by Captain April Ward on September 2, 2023 at 11:00. Interment to follow at Buchans Community Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Stacey’s Funeral Home.
Donations in Elsie’s memory may be given to The Salvation Army Buchans Corp.
