Ellen Faye Berry, 84, of Forest Dale Home passed away
peacefully on December 21st, 2024 with her loving daughter by her
side.
She was born in Riverside-Albert on April 7th, 1940 the
daughter of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Smith)
Simkins.
Ellen Faye was a housewife and
mother. She took her role as looking after the family very
seriously and was always there for them. She loved
her children with all her heart and they in turn loved
her. She raised her family in Berryton, Albert
County. When she was no longer was able to be on her own she
made the move to Forestdale, which has been her home for the last 11
years. She made many friends, and the staff became like family
especially Amanda Rossiter and her girls, Brooklyn and
Haley. She was well known for her competitiveness, in
bowling, bingo and any game she joined in on. She loved doing puzzles
before her eyes started bothering her and many of those puzzles were
hanging in her room. Completed with the help of many of the staff and
her sister Rosamund. She loved hearing from her girls by telephone or
skyping. In her last moments Donna played a video of all of
the family laughing and talking with Ellen Faye and as she
passed away she had a smile remembering all the good times
they shared. She wouldn’t want you to cry but take comfort
in the fact she is at peace.
«Mom- We lost a mother with a heart of gold, and how
much we miss her could never be told. She raised us with
love and helped us along, if we follow her footsteps we’ll never go
wrong.»
She will be deeply missed by her
daughters, Donna Morrisey (Joe) of Calgary, Phyllis Kirchhofer of
Calgary and Jennifer Berry of Nipawin,Saskatchewan; her 6 treasured
grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great granddaughters,
her sister, Rosemund Woodworth ( Alden) of Hillsborough and Dawn
Patterson of Orillia, ON; brother, Stephen Simkins (Lorna)of
Pickering, ON. She will also be missed by all her nieces and
nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband,
Donald Berry and by her two sons, Ernest William Berry and Wayne
Albert Berry.
There will be a funeral service announced at a later date
when the family can all get together. Interment will be in
the Berryton Cemetery, Berryton, NB, in the spring.
Donations to the Forest Dale Home or Berryton Cemetery
would be greatly appreciated by the family.
