Obituary
It is with profound sadness that the family of Ella Olive Smith announce her peaceful passing after a long and happy life on Monday, June 19th, 2023 at the age of 105 years.
She spent her last years on the South Wing of the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre where she was treated with love and the utmost respect.
Olive loved to travel in her early years and later loved sharing her countless stories about her adventures and also about her childhood memories on reciting long poems. Once her travelling stopped she looked forward to visits from her family and friends, especially if they brought her “Ice Coffee” or a “Cold Beer” and took her for a drive to Port Harmon, anywhere that she could see the water and the birds. She also liked Newfoundland music especially accordion music. Olive loved her family very much but the love of her life was her husband Max and it brings comfort to know they are together again after a long absence.
Left to mourn are: four children: Larry (Evelyn), Roy (Bernice), Jean (Eric) and Judy Johnston; and eleven grandchildren: Jeff, Greg, Tracey, Tammy, Dawn, Dan, Karen, Gwen, Gina, Kenneth, and Holly; as well as a wide circle of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.
She was predeceased by: husband Max Smith; parents Willis and Suzhannah Pardy; nine siblings; grandson Gregory Michael Boyd; and son-in-law Roger Johnston.
Following her wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held in St. Anthony on July 22nd at 11:00 AM at the Anglican Church.
Rest in Peace, Our Mom and Our Nan. We will miss you.
