Ella’s Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Ella King (nee Keeping) announce her passing at the Miller Center Palliative Care Unit, St. John’s, NL on Wednesday, February 22nd 2023 at the age of 99 years.
Born in Burnt Islands NL, Ella was the daughter of the late John and Flora Keeping (nee Poole). She was also predeceased by her husband, Maxwell Clyde King; father and mother-in-law, Edward King and Mary King; brothers: Arthur (Sara), Blandford (Sadie), Cyril (Emma Jane), sisters: Maggie (Fred), Margaret (Roy), And Baby Sister.
She leaves behind her children: Flora (Bert) Simms, Margaret Spracklin, Maxwell (Jaqueline) King, Enid Strickland. Grandchildren: Kimberly Simms, Karen Simms, Kathy
(Darren) Fillier, Lloyd (Wendy) Strickland, Jennifer Strickland, Paul (Anne) King, Paula (Ed) Krats. Jason (Karen) Spracklin. Mark Spracklin, Leanne Seaward, and great-grand children: Brandon, Brittany Pieroway, Ryan, Joel and Marcus Krats. Clara and Julia Fillier, Matthais Azizan, Ellie Strickland. Ella also leaves to mourn her many nieces and nephews and her special friend Mable Lemoine.
When someone needed mending of their clothes Ella was often the first person they went to as she was a very talented seamstress. In the spring of the year and through the summer Ella could often be found in her flower garden where she spent many hours planting and taking care of the many flowers that she had planted from seed.
Visitation will be taking place on Sunday, February 26 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 Pm at East Haven Funeral Home Inc., 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques. The funeral service will take place on Monday, February 27th at 2 pm from St James Anglican Church, Port Aux Basques officiated by Rev. Jane Allen. Internment to follow at St. James Cemetery High Street. As Expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations can be made to St. James Memorial Fund.
