Obituary For Ella Duncan
August 29, 1927 – November 15, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ella Duncan (nee Jantz), a longtime resident of Clairmont, Alberta and presently was a resident of Prairie Lake Seniors Community for the past 3 years. She passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024, at the age of 97 years with loved ones by her side.
Ella was born at Swalwell, Alberta on August 29, 1927. She is the last surviving child, of 14 children, born to Peter and Katherine Jantz. The Jantz family moved to Crooked Creek in 1936. Ella married James Duncan in 1946 and started the family farm, where they raised 9 children: Norma (Gary) Pandachuck, Kathy (Amie) Kohlman, Margaret (Raymond) Bachand, Tom (Sandy) Duncan, Pat Duncan (Jay Hoffos), Heather (Bob) Tansem, Donald (Donna) Duncan, Terry (Chip) Steinke and Bonnie Gidney.
Ella was proud to have 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 3 greatgreat-grandchildren. She loved all her children and grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Duncan, her daughter Kathy Kohlman, her son Tom Duncan, her son-in-law Bob Tansem and her grandson Darcy Kohlman.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 1pm at Bear Creek Funeral Home, 11802 99 Avenue, Grande Prairie. Interment to follow at Emerson Trail Cemetery. Viewing prior to service.
Donations may be made in Ella’s honor to Grande Prairie Legion #54, 9912 101 Avenue T8V 0Z7, or to a charity of your choice.
