Obituary of Elizabeth Smith
It is with sadness we announce the death of our mother, Elizabeth Ann Smith of West River Station on Monday, January 9, 2023 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow on July 17, 1940 she was a daughter of the late George and Florence (MacDonald) Baillie of West River Station.
Elizabeth was a loving, caring person, enjoying often the simple things in life and nature. She did not judge anyone and was a very compassionate person. Although her family was most important to her, she always had an open door with an open heart.
She will be dearly missed by her children Wayne (Darlene), Calgary; Audrey LeBlanc (Keith), West River Station; Jean Paon (Ron), West River Station; Jim (Margaret), Alma; Tom (Susan), New Glasgow; 11 grandchildren, Lisa, Cherie, Daniel, and Tyler; Joseph and Katic; Melanie and Tania; Jonah; Shelby and Coady; and 24 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Brenda Baillie, Carol Kelly (Donald), Phyllis Smith, Sandra Ross (Neil), Neil Smith (Yolanda), Roland Smith (Pauline), and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband James; brother Tom Baillie; and brother-in-law Wayne Smith.
There will be no visitations. Her funeral service will be held 1 o’clock Saturday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Rev. Bonnie Langille officiating. Burial will be in Hill Cemetery, West River Station. The funeral will be streamed and may be watched by clicking on the following link (link to be posted on Friday)
Thank you to the Pictou County V.O.N. and the Doctors and staff of the Aberdeen Hospital for their compassionate care.
