We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of our mother and grandmother Elizabeth (Liz) Manahan. She passed away peacefully at TBRHSC on Thursday January 4th, 2024, with family by her side. Elizabeth was born December 24th, 1948, in Fort William to Evelyn and Harry Lang. Liz attended high school at FWCI where she met the love of her life, Don Manahan. After graduating FW in 1967 her and Don attended the University of Waterloo where she studied Kinesiology and played volleyball. Liz and Don married May 1st, 1971. They had two daughters, Corie and Erin. She later welcomed her two grandchildren Zachary and Emma Adamson who both quickly became the light of her life. Mom was always there supporting and cheering for her grandchildren in their many activities. Family was Liz’s focus from the day her daughters were born. She chose to be a stay-at-home Mom which allowed her to be very involved with her children as well as her curling leagues. She also supported her brother Rick and Lorraine Lang in their curling careers. Along with cheering on Rick and Lorriane, she spent many hours with Adam and Sarah Lang while their parents curled. Later on Liz dedicated her time to coaching and organizing many of the activities her daughters participated in. She also enjoyed her gardens and time playing bridge with many of her friends. One of Mom’s many accomplishments was being part of the Hope Classic Committee in addition to participating in it with her lifelong friend Marsha Sommerville. Mom eventually joined the workforce as a receptionist at the Gleeson Clinic. Liz is predeceased by her mom and dad Evelyn and Harry Lang along with her husband Don Manahan. She is survived by her daughters Corie Adamson (Brent) and Erin Manahan (Rory) and grandchildren Zach and Emma Adamson, her siblings Ken (Shirley) Lang, Judy (John-deceased) Petrik and Rick (Lorraine) Lang as well as numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a Celebration of Life on March 17th, 2024, at the Fort William Curling Club from 1-3pm with words of remembrance at 2pm.
