In Celebration of
Elizabeth Enyedi (née Erzsébet Vajda)
August 1, 1932 –
January 2, 2024
Born on August 1, 1932, in Maros Ludas, Transylvania, Elizabeth was the eldest child of Ferenc Vajda and Regina Vajda (née Láposi). She supported her parents with the raising of her siblings (late János, András, late Ferenc, late Joska, Jolán, István) during WWII and later when she was forced to escape her place of birth. When she became a mother to Albert and Zoltan, she lived in Bonyhád. Here, she worked tirelessly to feed and clothe her own children as parts of her native land, Hungary, was invaded. In 1972, she left her home again to meet her then, husband (late Albert Enyedi) in Canada where she began a new life.
Elizabeth’s life experiences developed her strengths of resilience and perseverance in the face of obstacles. She was brave, even in battling her health issues which some said that she could never overcome. Her love of family, her sons and three grandchildren (Ashley, Edward and Christina), was without question and was what kept her going. She loved to dance, bicycle, garden, read poetry and would always be on the watch for birds, especially hummingbirds. She re-told stories of the trials and tribulations of past generations and these were not only a part of her but will be a part of generations to come. Now she can reunite with her lost ancestors. Rest in peace our dear, brave Elizabeth.
