YOUNG, Elizabeth Ruth, affectionately known as Betty, passed
away peacefully on December 8, 2024, at South Shore Regional Hospital,
Bridgewater, at the age of 84. Born in Bridgewater on February 16,
1940, Betty spent her life dedicated to her family and community,
leaving a lasting impact on everyone she touched.
Betty’s life was a testament to her caring and
selfless nature. As a steadfast volunteer and long-standing member of
her church, she made a measurable difference in her community. Her
life centered around caring for others, from her devotion to her
children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and included her
commitment to ensuring the well-being of those around her. She was an
intricate part of supporting her family, by working in the family
business and supporting Arthur’s position as a district
counsellor as well as his passion for farming and ox pulls.
Betty’s love and support were constants that brought comfort
and joy to many.
Betty’s life was a beacon of kindness, love and
service, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. It is
hoped that her legacy of love and dedication to her family and friends
will continue to inspire those she has left behind. Her presence on
earth was a blessing and she will not be forgotten.
Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Arthur, who was not
only her partner but her best friend. Betty’s legacy
continues through her four children: Wendy and Frank (Trina), both of
Branch Lahave, James (Cheryl) , also of Branch Lahave, and Jackie
(Bill) of Middletown, Delaware. She was a cherished grandmother to
Ashley, Holly, Britt, Josh, Jordan, Kayla and Sean, and a
great-grandmother to six children.
Betty was predeceased by her mother Ruth, her father James
and her sister Helen.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request.
Graveside service will be held at 2pm on Friday December 13, 2024 in
St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Branch LaHave with Rev. Willis Ott
officiating. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to
St. James Lutheran Church, Branch LaHave. Arrangements are under the
direction of the R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville. Online
