In Celebration of
Elizabeth «Betty» Weinhardt (nee Haug)
May 1, 1931 –
August 25, 2024
Passed into glory at Heritage Green Nursing Home on August 25, 2024 in her 94th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, Konrad, her brother Philip (the late Audrey) Haug and her sister Kathy (the late Bill) Ellis. Survived by her brother Fred (Katherine) Haug and her children Gary (Bethany), Irene (Roland) Schlarb, and Frank (Judy), 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Beloved “Betty Tante” to many nieces and nephews.
Betty, the oldest of four siblings, was born in Novi Pazova, Yugoslavia (Serbia) on May 1, 1931. Her family then moved to the village of Krcedin where they had a vineyard. She learned to cook and take care of her younger siblings early in life because her parents were working in the vineyard. She loved Sundays when she would gather with neighbours and relatives in homes for singing and fellowship. This happy childhood came to an abrupt end when the Communists took over in Yugoslavia. She and her family and many others were put into concentration camps. Typhoid fever took the lives of her parents, and many others in the camps. She almost died as well. After she recovered, she made plans to escape with her siblings. After many difficult and dangerous experiences, with God’s help and the help of compassionate strangers they managed to cross into Austria and freedom. They were placed in a UNRRA orphanage in the city of Leoben because they were still minors. An uncle living in Canada helped them to emigrate and start a new life.
They settled in Windsor, Ontario. She attended the Apostolic Christian Church there and was baptized in 1949. On June 27th, 1954 she married Konrad Weinhardt. So began a life of Christian service that was her life long passion. Her love language was definitely “acts of service”. She was always ready to help wherever she was. Her hospitality was very well known as was her cooking and baking. Everything that she did always came with a generous helping of love.
Special thanks to Heritage Green Nursing Home staff for your compassionate and loving care. We were truly blessed to have you in our lives.

2 Timothy 4:7-8 ( KJV )
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
