Elizabeth Rebecca Hamilton (Fox)
Elizabeth (Betty) Hamilton passed away unexpectedly while surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at the age of 73.
Loving wife of Jim Hamilton, mother of Scott (Amanda), Jim (Shannon), and cherished Nanny to Brooke, Amy and James. Dear sister to Margaret (John), Mary (Brian), and John (Maureen).
Predeceased by her mother, Jessie Fox (Ellis).
Shortly after emigrating from Scotland in 1979, Betty started her long career within the Owen Sound seniors care community. She went on to build and operate Kelso Pines and then Kelso Villa where she cared for thousands of residents, made life-long friendships and experienced immense joy. She was quick to warmly welcome a new face and generous with words of encouragement. Her true gift was her immeasurable capacity for care and compassion.
To know Betty was to know her love for family. She took great pride and enjoyment in the successes of her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews. Never a celebration did she miss even if it meant a long drive or a plane ride. Family was her true passion.
A Funeral Service followed by a reception for Betty will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be Friday, January 20, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to The Women’s Centre Grey & Bruce (www.thewomenscentre.org) or a charity of your choice as an expression of sympathy. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family on-line at www.woodfuneralhome.ca.
