Betty passed away peacefully with family at her side at the Kings County Memorial Hospital in Montague on Sunday, July 28, 2024. She was a strong woman with a love for life and a hearty contagious laugh. She was a loving mom, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, aunt, and a friend to many.
She leaves behind her beloved children Rhoda (Pat), David (Mary Margaret), Beverly (Jimmy), Bernie (Lisa) and daughter-in-law Wendy.
In addition, she will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Rachel (Courtney Peters), Tanya (James Haney) and Connie Decourcey (Dale MacKinnon), Stephanie (Mark McLaine) and James MacLeod (Allie Stevenson), Kyle, Everett and Ronald Laybolt, Gerard and Travis Blaisdell, Gail MacLellan (Brodie Birt), Crystal Winters (Johnathan), James (Martina Doiron) and Andrew Blaisdell and Shawn Decourcey. Also, by Craig MacLellan and Tanya MacLean.
Betty was a special great grandmother to Devon, Hailey, Khloe and Shamus Peters, Kyle Crane (Bailey Quinn), Riley Decourcey (Katie), Brett Woods, Destiny and Colton Perry, Brandon MacFadyen, Marybeth and Brody MacLeod, Maddex, Jazlynn, Caroline, Brandon, Sara, Cole, Chloe, Allie, Nicholas, Cassie, Stephen and Clinton and great great grandmother to Hollis Cummiskey and Hayden Crane. She is survived by her sister Grace Jackson.
Betty was the daughter of the late Herbert and Minnie (MacDonald) Blackett. She is predeceased by her two husbands, Andrew Blaisdell and Finbar Brown. Also predeceased by her sons, Kenny and Preston Blaisdell, daughter Carol Ann Langley, brothers, Leroy, Jim, Sterling, Bill Victor, Wally, Vern and Raymond and grandchildren Kenny Laybolt, Christopher Blaisdell, Courtney Decourcey and son-in-law Jim MacLeod
Resting at Dingwell Funeral Home where visiting hours will take place on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, from 6-9pm. A funeral service will be held at the Upton Gospel Chapel, Upton, PE, on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 2:00pm with interment to follow in the Old Dundas Acorn Cemetery. If so desired, donations in memory of Betty can be made to the Old Dundas Acorn Cemetery Fund.
