On Wednesday, November 8th, Elizabeth (Betty) Anne Pollard passed away peacefully with her beloved husband by her side. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Robert Pollard, her children Kerry Parsons and Theresa Dal Zotto, her son in laws Darren Parsons and Sandy Dal Zotto, her grandchildren Daniel, Brennan, Alessando, her best friend Shirly, and her loyal four legged companion Bailey.
Born to Frances and Leonard Cunningham, Betty was the middle child of five children. She is survived by her sisters May and Linda and her brother Lenny. She is predeceased by her sister Joan (2022).
Robert and Betty met at Anderson Street highschool in Oshawa and were married on May 20th, 1972. Robert and Betty headed North to Sioux Lookout, or God’s Country as she so often referred to it as, so that Bob could work with the Ministry of Natural Resources. The day after they arrived in Sioux Lookout Bob had to leave for two weeks to fight a fire. Bob knew that if Betty was still at the house when he returned that they would be together forever. Thankfully, she was still there! Betty graduated with a nursing degree from Toronto and quickly found a job at the General Hospital. Betty was a dedicated nurse providing the best care to all of her patients. If ever a family member was not feeling well, Betty was just a phone call away for advice, reassurance and offers to come and help.
Betty’s main passion was her love of gardening. When she was younger her gardens were expansive and manicured and as she aged those gardens became a little smaller and a little more “wild”. This past summer, she kept very busy digging up plants and moving them closer to the front door so that she did not have to walk as far to care for them. Her flowers brought her so much joy and she offered clippings from her own garden to anyone that wanted them.
She will be remembered for all the heart she shared with her friends and family. She truly loved each of them and if you knew her, you knew it. Betty loved sending cards and gift cards to her daughters and grandchildren in the mail. While not so fond of the snowy winters in Gravenhurst, Betty did love the Christmas season. She started shopping early for Christmas so that she had the perfect gift for everyone because she loved seeing the expressions on our faces when we opened up our many gifts that she bought. She always went overboard because that was just her generous nature and that she wanted the day to be extra special. She also made sure everyone had a comfy pair of jammies on Christmas eve and that Christmas dinner favourites were on the table.
The family would like to thank all of the Kinister subdivision neighbours and friends for all the support they have provided Bob and Betty over the years but especially in the last couple of months providing comfort, kindness and support. We will be forever thankful to you all.
Betty will now be with her cherished one and only Granddaughter Mikayla Elizabeth Parsons, who was named after her Nana, they can both be at peace together.

When we are feeling sad and lonely we will always remember you and know that even if you aren’t here with us in body, that your soul will forever be around us and wrapping us tightly in your arms. We will never forget the love and support you always provided to us. We will love you forever and always mom and continue to love you until we can see you again. Love your daughters
As per Betty’s wishes she has been cremated and there will be no funeral. We hope to have a celebration of life for her in the summer.
