Eleanor Sweet (née Steffen) died peacefully on February 26th, 2023. Eleanor truly exemplified her “Sweet” surname. She was pleasant, kind, humble, and resilient.
Eleanor had a great sense of humour and was a good listener. She enjoyed a good cup of coffee with her friends and family. She travelled between Waterloo and Dundas to visit her grandkids weekly. Although we never understood why she stored her lays chips in the oven, or had a fondness for buying slippers, we will miss her endlessly and cherish her memory.
She was predeceased by her husband Ted Sweet in 2014. She leaves behind her two wonderful children, Ryan Sweet and Jennifer Callen and their spouses, Kim and Dave. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Connor (Laura), Logan, Sophia, and Miles, and her grand-dogs Nukka and Oscar, and grand-cats Gustavo and Yuumi. She will be deeply missed by her sister Diane (Don) McDermitt and her brother Wayne (Crysta) Steffen, her many nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and her wonderful neighbours on Picadilly Place in Guelph. We would like to sincerely thank Dr. Angela Lightle, Dr. Samantha Winemaker, and Dr. Steffan Frosi Stella. We are grateful for the exceptional care provided by Dr. Boyle and the care team at Margaret’s Place Hospice. In lieu of flowers, Eleanor requested donations be made to Margaret’s Place Hospice in Dundas or the Guelph Humane Society.
In lieu of a formal service, Eleanor requested that her immediate family gather to privately remember her with some delicious Roti and Doubles.
