Obituary
PERRY, Eileen Marguerite – 82 of Surf Lodge, Lockeport NS, formerly of North East Harbour, Shelburne Co NS passed away peacefully at Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point NS.
Born August 4, 1941, she was the daughter of late Ralph and Kathleen (Perry) Perry.
Eileen was employed by the Municipality of Shelburne for all of her working life. Many will remember her as the lady that worked in the tax office. She met a lot of residents during her 30 years there and remembered nearly every one.
Eileen loved to travel and enjoyed many bus trips around the Maritimes with her travelling companions.
She was a member of Riverside Rebekah Lodge #49 IOOF of Port Clyde for many years.
Eileen was a collector! These past few months as we, her caregivers have looked for things she requested, we have discovered her passion for collections. Thimbles, bells, dishes, pins, Avon bottles.
Eileen’s greatest love was cats. She loved her pet cats but also stray cats. She and her sister would drive 15km every couple of days to feed about 15 stray cats. They did this for over 12 years until all the cats had passed. They found much pleasure in helping these kitties.
In her last years, Eileen gave up driving and left that chore for her sister. We are convinced that Bev did the driving but Eileen was the navigator as she could tell you who lived in every house from North East Harbour right around to Baccaro.
Eileen is predeceased by her parents and her good friend Burdette Perry. She is survived by her sister, Beverly. The two sisters were inseparable, they lived together all their days and you never saw one without the other. It is going to be so difficult to say Bev without adding Eileen. Bev gave her all in looking after her sister these past few years.
We will miss your dry humour, Eileen. You never failed to make us laugh.
There will be a visitation held Friday, September 29, from 1-2 pm at the H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, where the funeral service will follow at 2 pm with Val Nickerson officiating.
