Born June 13, 1943 at Royal Columbia Hospital, New Westminster BC. Lee grew up in Port Coquitlam BC and that is where her love for animals and the outdoors started. Lee graduated from Port Coquitlam high school’s first graduating class in 1961, enrolling in UBC that same year. Lee graduated from the Pharmacy Program in 1965, becoming a licensed pharmacist in 1966.
Later that year Lee married her longtime boyfriend Tom, and they celebrated their 57th anniversary this year.
They moved to Kamloops and that is where Lee started her career as a pharmacist at Woodwards. Lee and Kamloops were made for each other. Lee thought it had the perfect balance of small-town friendliness, big city amenities and wonderful outdoor recreation. Skiing, fishing, canoeing, camping and hiking were her favourite outdoor activities. The Western Canada Theatre Company and the Kamloops Film Society were her cultural favourites. Lee loved learning, taking Spanish, French and advanced math at Cariboo College. Lee also enjoyed painting.
When they retired in 2000 they joined the “Walkie Talkies” hiking group. Lee enjoyed the camaraderie and the fun get togethers. Lee joined the Kamloops Probus club, serving on the management committee.
A time share in Whistler allowed for more skiing and hiking. One of the highlights was being able to attend the 2010 Olympics with family and friends.
Lee and four of her friends bought an apartment in Vancouver. It was named “Their Little Cabin In The City”. This made it possible to enjoy the attractions of the lower mainland and to visit friends and family.
Travel was always a joy to Lee, combining cycling and hiking with visiting wonderful countries and sites. Lee loved going on cruises and stopping at different ports so she could get a taste of all the exciting places in the world.
In 2015 Lee had a tragic fall that left her paralyzed which forced her to move into the Overlander Extended Care Home. Lee received excellent care there and the family will be forever grateful for the staff. She struggled to have a life despite her paralysis. Lee played bingo, cribbage and solitaire and loved going for drives and stopping at C-Lovers for fish and chips.
Lee is survived by her husband of 57 years, Tom, her nieces and nephews, Deborah, Doug, Tracy, Dean, Todd and her 8 great nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of life in Kamloops in the spring.
