On Wednesday, January 11th 2023, Edward Joseph Roch passed away peacefully at Goderich Place in Goderich Ontario.
Ed in his 86th year, was pre-deceased by his true soul mate, the love of his life, the late Darla Roch. He will be lovingly remembered by daughter Jodie (late Andrew) Long, son James (Deanna) Roch and grandchildren Braden Roch, Caleb Long, Kayla Roch, as well as his Brother Len (Barbara) Roch.
Ed had previously served as Chief Accountant for the National Cancer Institute of Canada, and the Canadian Cancer Society.
A couple big highlights of his career were being responsible for all donations across Canada resulting from the original Terry Fox Run, and then in his fifties, successfully pursuing his CGA at Ryerson University.
Ed and Darla retired in 2001 to the quaint little town of Goderich where they were actively involved in their community. Ed drove for Meals on Wheels (while Darla delivered), and he was treasurer of Meneset on the Lake where they lived. They were a dynamic duo and inseparable. Ed had a great sense of humour and a love for sports. He was a loyal fan through and through of the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs. An avid golfer, Ed played regularly well into his mid seventies, and once he packed in his clubs, he still enjoyed his coffee “club” with the guys once a week.
This is a small glimpse into Ed’s life, for those that knew him he will be thought of with loving memories.
At Ed’s request, cremation has occurred, and in keeping with his wishes, there will be no memorial service. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
