Edna «Dorothy» Houle (Spence)
Dorothy was born in Gladstone, MB on April 10th, 1942 and passed away peacefully on September 6th, 2024 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg.
Dorothy was predeceased by hers sons Michael and Leslie Houle, her daughter in law Donna, ex husband Pierre Houle, her parents Andrew & Lena Spence, her brothers; Lloyd, Leslie, Russell, Frankie, Larry and Alvin, her sisters; Mary, Patsy, Karen, Doreen, Noreen and Caroline and special friend Bob.
Dorothy will be greatly missed by her children; Caroline (Mark), Allan, Cynthia, Robyn and Debbie (Louie), she will also be missed by her grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews, her sister Betty and brother Brian. She will also be missed by her godchildren Terry and Patrick.
Dorothy was a very special woman with a big heart, she was a caregiver to Linda, Lorna, Susan, Jeanette, Johnny, Charlene, Brian, Dwayne, Elaine and those who have passed on before Dorothy; Ernestine, Scott, Felix, Patsy, Lena and Yvette. Dorothy worked in home care in Ebb and Flow for many years until moving to Winnipeg in 1989, she enjoyed returning home to Ebb and Flow to cook for big community gatherings and enjoyed spending time with long time friends, she will be remembered for her famous Indian Tacos at the yearly community Pow Wows where she cooked and served many locals and visitors, she will also be remembered for her famous date cake. Dorothy’s love for her grandchildren was special as she showed them with great love and respect. Dorothy will be greatly missed by those who knew her as she treated everyone who came to her home like family.
A special thank you to The Grace Hospital ICU and 3rd floor – south wing for their care and compassion during her last few weeks of life.
Prayer Service & Wake were offered on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at 7:00 pm in the Ebb and Flow Community Complex, Ebb and Flow First Nation.
Funeral Service was held on Monday, September 16, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the Ebb & Flow Community Complex, Ebb and Flow First Nation with Fr Moise Adossou officiating. The service concluded at the complex with cremation to follow. Interment will take place at a later date in the Ebb and Flow Cemetery.
