1945-2024
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Edna Blanche
(Gowan) Dykeman announce her passing at the Saint John Regional
Hospital on May 15, 2024. Born in Digdeguash NB on June 8, 1945, she
was the daughter of the late Willard and Helen (Harmon)
Gowan.
Edna will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 58yrs
Robert «Bob» Dykeman; daughter, Dana «Sis» (Pat)
Little and son Andrew «Andy» (Daphne) Dykeman; Grandchildren
Courtney Little, Nicholas Little, Amy Dykeman, Zachary Dykeman and
chosen grandson Andrew Little. Great-grandchildren Scarlett and
Bennett; siblings: Phyllis Belliveau, Norval Gowan and Robert Gowan;
and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Besides her parents, Edna was predeceased by her siblings,
Mrytle Frost, Mary Wilcox, Kenneth Gowan, Willard Gowan Jr., Vance
Gowan, Lewis Gowan and Clara Rose Gowan.
Prior to retirement, Edna was employed as a Registered Nurse
for over 40 years. She had a love for nature and enjoyed many hours in
her flower gardens. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, writing and was an
avid reader. Edna truly loved her family and spending time with them
brought her such joy. Her grandbabies and great grandbabies held a
very special place in Grammies’ heart, and she cherished
every moment of their time together. Edna was loved by many and will
be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home
(506-755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. In keeping with
Edna’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A service will
be held at the St. Mark’s Anglican Church, St. George NB on
Monday, May 20th at 2:00 pm with Rev. Brett MacDonald officiating,
followed by the interment in the Bocabec Community Cemetery. Please
join the family afterwards in the hall for «a bite to eat»
and share some memories. Donations in her memory may be made to the NB
Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Cancer
Society.
Flowers are welcome at the interment, as mom once said she
would love to be surrounded by flowers when the Good Lord calls her
home.
