Edith Porter, nee James
Passed away peacefully at Milton District Hospital on Friday, the 22nd of December 2023 at age 83 surrounded by her family. She is reunited in peace with her loving husband Louis; sister-in-law Eva and husband Raymond; and her 10 sisters and brothers Lloyd, Roy, Lawrence, Lydia, Ruth, Doris, Eddy, Billy, Jean, Donna and childhood friend Ruth Minish.
She is survived by her daughter Kimberly, son-in-law Steve Bonin; brother-in-law Arthur and wife Linda; close friend William Minish; grandchildren Stephanie and Adam; and great-grandchildren Savannah, Alyssa, Corbin and Lillie; and several nieces and nephews along with their spouses.
Edith enjoyed her family and was in contact with them regularly and never missed an opportunity to attend a family gathering and recount family stories. She never forgot any birthdays or other special occasions and always reached out to each of her relatives.
She was the rock of her family, keeping all of the information about all of her nieces and nephews and their families. We depended upon her to keep family information current and also for her wisdom about life . Edith was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and matriarch of her family. We will all miss her.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the exceptional care team at Milton District Hospital, whose compassionate care and unwavering support provided Edith with comfort and dignity during her last hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Milton District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as a tribute to Edith’s memory.
Private cremation services have taken place, A Memorial Visitation to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 2:00 to 5:00pm at McKersie & Early Funeral Home 114 Main St E., Milton 905-878-4452. Internment to be held at a later date in Vasey with the immediate family only.
