It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Earle Frederick Lewis, on Sunday, June 16, 2024, in the Northside Community Guest Home with family by his side, at the age of 82.
Born October 19, 1941, in Sydney, he was a son of the late Herb and Anne Lewis.
Earle worked as a shipper for MacDougall Trucking and Brookfield Ice Cream. In later years he worked for City Wide Taxi until retirement. Earle enjoyed playing cards, listening to his old records, which he had collected since the age of 13, dancing and traveling.
He is survived by his brothers, Sandy (Chook), North Sydney and Leo (Marie), Sydney; sister, Rena Carew, Sydney; sister-in-law, Denise Lewis; brother-in-law, David Kaufman; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Earle was predeceased by his wife, Gaye Reid; brothers, Donnie, Art, Charlie and Tom; sisters, Ethel Holland and Anna Mae Jackson; sisters-in-law, Edie and Jeanette Lewis; and brothers-in-law, Bernie Carew and Robert Holland.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Northside Community Guest home for the excellent care Earle received, especially the staff of St. Joseph’s Hall. He was happy while residing there.
Visitation will take place in Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday, June 20th from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday, June 21st at 11 a.m. with Rev. Evo DiPierro officiating. Interment will take place in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
