Dragomir ‘Drago’ Spasojevic
Passed away suddenly on February 6th, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Tavna in the former Yugoslavia he is predeceased by the love of his life Jefa (Tomic) and leaves behind his three loving daughters; Diana (Ljuba), Zeljka and Dragana (Daniele Ghezzi). Drago was adored by his eight grandchildren who will miss him and his ‘dedaisms’ greatly. His many nephews, cousins, and extended family here and back in the home country are grieving their loss.
Drago was a big part of his neighbourhood as the local corner store owner; Hilson Confectionery, he helped, served, talked and listened (not so good with this skill) to many neighbours and enjoyed their company while visiting his store. He always extended a helping hand when needed. Drago and Jela were very passionate about helping neighbours, family and community, they were integral in the establishment of the Serbian Orthodox Church for the Ottawa – Gatineau Community.
Visitation will be at Tubman Funeral Homes-Westboro Chapel, 403 Richmond Rd on Thursday, February 15th between the hours of 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. Visitation will also be held at St. Stefan’s Orthodox Church, 1993 Prince of Wales Dr. on Friday, February 16th between the hours of 6-8 pm. The funeral Mass will be at St. Stefan’s Orthodox Church on Saturday, February 17th at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Ottawa Cancer Society and St. Stefan’s Orthodox Church.
