It is
with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Douglas
Robert Moore Senior, age 75, of Greenwich. Douglas
«Doug» Sr. passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, in
Kentville. Doug was an organ donor, and his family is
comforted by knowing that he will help another family.
Doug was
born on December 1, 1949, to the late Augustus and Dorothy (Wilcox)
Moore in Windsor, NS and grew up in Hantsport, NS. Doug
worked for over 34 years at the Minas Basin Pulp & Paper Co.
Ltd. in Hantsport, Nova Scotia, where he retired. On November 23,
1968, he married the late Marilyn Joan (Porter) Moore. They were
happily married for 50 years. Together they raised a beautiful
family.
Doug is
survived by his partner Audrey; his children: Sharman (Dave), Angie
(Phil), Douglas Jr. (Dorris); Grandchildren: Alexandra (Justin), Jacob
(Mikaela), Jared (Donald), Olivia (Desean), Alexis (Malakaih) and
Nathaniel (Trinity); step-grandchildren: Camille, Brent, Nick, Nathan,
Luc; great-grandchildren: Jack, Novalynn, Andi, Levi; sister, Carolyn
(Moore) Vaughan; brother-in-law, Duckie Schofield; sisters-in-law:
Charlotte (Spencer) Moore, Donna Marquis (Greg), Leona Porter, Carolyn
Porter, Debra Porter (Mark); brothers-in-law: Dean Porter (Brenda),
Gerald Porter (Shirley), Donald Porter (Lila), Lionel Porter, Laurie
Jr. Porter, Stephen Porter (Alma), and Terry Porter; and several
nieces and nephews.
Doug was
a one-of-a-kind man who brought joy and laughter to many. In his
younger years he loved fishing, hunting, square dancing, and playing
baseball. He was enthusiastic about many things. Some of his many
hobbies included doing puzzles, Jam sessions, playing crib and cards.
He enjoyed making crafts and going to Chinese Auctions with his late
wife Marilyn. For many years he belonged to the Lion’s Club
of Hantsport and participated in Christmas toy drives for children.
His involvement with the Lion’s Club and the toy drive shows
his dedication to helping those in need. Playing Santa for many years
was his special way to share his love for the holidays. In his spare
time, Doug loved to spend time with family and friends at Tim Hortons,
and he was also the one to make everyone laugh.

Doug’s Celebration of Life
will take place on Monday, December 30, 2024 in the White Family
Funeral Home, Kentville, with visitation starting at 1pm, immediately
followed by a service and reception at 2:00 p.m. You may livestream
