Obituary
Newman, Douglas Robert – 61, Port Howe, passed away Sunday, May 19th, 2024 after a short but aggressive battle with brain cancer. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he was a son of the late Fred and Diane (Thompson) Newman. Dad was known in the community for his sense of humour and kindness. Although he had a rough exterior, he had a kind heart and always aimed to make everyone laugh and be happy. He loved his grandchildren fiercely and was a big fan of fast cars. He took great pride in the house he built in Port Howe where he resided for over 20 years. He would never turn down a good boxing fight or wrestling match on TV along with any kind of food that had cheese in it. He is survived by his daughter, Samantha (Annette) and his two grandchildren; as well as brothers, Daniel (Chris) and Richard (Kristin); sister, Patricia (Dan); several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are in the care of MacDiarmid’s Funeral Homes & Crematorium. Donations can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association. You were, and are loved. We will miss you.
