So many have lost a gem of a man, Rhonda’s beloved husband Douglas George Atchison. Doug came into this world on September 30, 1958, and left us on May 28, 2023. He is deeply missed and loved by his wife Rhonda; daughter Ashley (Stephanie), (who also lost her mother, Carren in January); brother Wes (Jayna); sisters: Sherrill and Lila (Gord); niece Meaghan Jones (Jason); nephew Andrew (Stephanie); aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout Manitoba; countless lifelong wonderful friends and his beloved Lab, Marley.
Doug retired almost 10 years ago after 37 years of service as a Conductor with Canadian Pacific Railroad. Doug loved being on the water, fishing. He especially enjoyed going back to NW Ontario and fishing for Walleye and Northern Pike. He was an avid sports fan, cheering on his Philadelphia Flyers, St. Louis Cardinals, and New York Giants. But, from spring until fall, you would find him on the Golf Course. He enjoyed a beer or three with his buddies, spreading his charm, and telling a joke or two. He was a true gentleman, always honest, loyal, and true to his word. The 20 years he and Rhonda were together wasn’t long enough. Rhonda feels lost without him and misses him every minute of the day.
Rhonda would like to thank the many people who have touched her heart with your phone calls, messages of love and support, flowers, and cards. These have all truly touched her heart. Special mention to Wes, Jayna, Ashley, Meaghan, Andrew and Sherrill for her phone calls of support and love. Thank you doesn’t seem to be enough. A special thank you to Rhonda’s brother, Mario Yoli for the long talks, tears, and laughs. Miles apart but always close at heart.
Doug would be smiling down on each one of you. Life changed for all of us when Mom and Dad (Atchison) passed away. It’s changing again, but together we’ll get through this.
