Obituary
Doug Coombs passed away on November 8, 2022, at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre at the age of 78 years, after a battle with cancer.
Doug was born October 6, 1944, to parents Alfred and Marjorie (Towers) Coombs. Doug was the third child with two older sisters Marilyn and Dorothy, one younger sister Geraldine and younger brother Clifford.
Doug was married to Lynda Murchison in Winnipeg, MB.
While living in Dauphin he was always a hard worker and an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish, liked hiking and reading, especially anything to do with the outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. He had many jobs from picking stones as a kid to delivering groceries on his bike, moving up to Blackwood’s Beverages as a delivery and salesman. He was a security guard and a commercial and warehousing salesman. He excelled at all jobs.
Doug is survived by his two sons, Jonathon Douglas Coombs and Andrew Tyler Coombs; grandchildren Dason and Cameron Wowk; sisters Dorothy Callis and Geraldine Stark; and brother Clifford (Bonnie) Coombs. As well as his brothers-in-law Myles Murchison, Malcolm John Murchison and sister-in-law Janet Debeurs, and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Doug was predeceased by his wife Lynda Anne Coombs; his parents Alfred and Marjorie; as well as his eldest sister Marilyn.
The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Should friends so desire, donations in memory of Douglas may be made to Manitoba Wildlife Federation.
A Memorial Service will be held for Douglas on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at 2:00 pm from the Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin with Pastor Howard Burnie officiating.
Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery – Dauphin.
