LUFT, Dorothy Olivia (Durrer)
Passed away peacefully at Hospice of Waterloo Region on September 12, 2024, in her 92nd year. Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband Albert, with whom she enjoyed 67 wonderful years filled with the joy of world travel, loyal friends, gardening, puzzles and cards.
Born and raised in Mildmay, Ontario, she moved to Kitchener where she met Ab, the love of her life, and spent her working years between Schneiders and Zehrs. She was a faithful member of St. Teresa of Avila Parish and CWL for over 60 years.
Loving mother of Barry Luft (Karina), James Luft (Tina), Laurie Partridge (Arthur) and Donna MacLean (Allan). Proud and loving Grandma to Tyler Luft (Adrienne), Kelly Schiedel (Ryan), Jessica Luft (David), Jacob Luft (Candace), Zachary Luft, Alex Luft, Kristi Pearce (Chris), Jody Blissett (Russ), Ashley Partridge, Lindsay Maskell (Scott) and Scott MacLean (Kaitlin). Special Gigi to great-grandchildren Maya and Isaac Luft, Charlie and Nash Schiedel, Taylor and Brooklynn Pearce, Harper and Ronan Blissett, Katrina and Dominic Wojcik, Logan and Hannah Maskell and Lena and Macie MacLean.
Survived by sister Betty Borho, brother Lorne Durrer, sister-in-law Patricia Durrer, brothers-in-law William Luft (Shirley) and Robert Luft (Nancy) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister Alice Haelzle, brothers Jerome, Leonard, Frank, Stanley, Harold and Raymond Durrer and daughter-in-law Debbie Luft.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hospice of Waterloo Region would be greatly appreciated by the family.
Dorothy’s family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Prayers will begin at 5:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Teresa Parish, 44 Leonard Street, Kitchener, on Wednesday, September 18th, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Reception to follow in the church hall. A private burial to take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
