Obituary For Dorothy Mae Johnston
Dorothy Mae Johnston, a resident of Grande Prairie, AB passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Prairie Lake Seniors Home at the age of 91 years.
Dorothy “Dot” was born in Dimsdale on December 16, 1932. She started school in Millarston prior to moving into the Bear Creek Valley just south of the train bridge. She graduated from Grande Prairie High School and then St. Joseph’s Business College. After college she started working as a legal secretary, which was her career for 55 years in Grande Prairie.
She will be sadly missed by her three children: Pamela (Marc) Pitt, Terrance (Tikonde) Bielecki and Robin Bielecki; grandchildren: Christina, Brian, Lynn, Meghan, Grace, Sean and Nathan; brother Jim Johnston; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues.
Dot was predeceased by her parents Manilla and Ralph Johnston; son Richard Bielecki; sister Pollyanna (Jack) Kilgour; brothers: Clarence (Wilhelmina), Kenneth (Juanita), Harold (Dorothy) and Marvin (Roberta) Johnston.
A Funeral Service for Dorothy will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at 10:00am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave.) in Grande Prairie, AB. All who knew Dorothy are invited to attend. Interment will follow at the Grande Prairie Cemetery (84 Ave. and 112 St.), with a luncheon at 11:30am at the Golden Age Center (10222 101 Ave.).
Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (heartandstroke.ca/donations), The Golden Age Center (10222 101 Ave.), or the charity of your choice.
