Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Dorothy Eileen Blackmore (nee Savery), on the 8th of July 2024, at the age of 95 years, at the Dr Charles L LeGrow Health Centre with her loving nieces, Susanne (Hubert) Ingram and Rita (Wayne) Anderson by her side.
Eileen was born in Channel – Port aux Basques to the Late Robert and Susie Savery. She is also predeceased by her husband George and her son Robert (Bob); mother in law, Amy Parsons, niece; Dianne Gray, plus a very large circle of in laws.
Eileen leaves behind her sons; David (Debbie) Blackmore and Paul (Jean) Blackmore, 5 Grandchildren and 6 great Grandchildren. Sister; Ruth LeDrew, sisters in law; Marguerite White and Bessie Blackmore, brothers in law; Gordon (Shirley) and Winston, daughter in law; Evelyn Blackmore, plus many nieces, nephews and friends.
Eileen was a choir member all of her life as well as a server of St. James Anglican Church. She was also an active ACW member. Eileen was a quiet person, but full of fun, she always would find humor in any situation. Back in the day, she loved to knit, the last thing she worked on was a sweater, that she unraveled so many times the wool was worn.
Eileen resided at Mountain Hope Manor in Port aux Basques until her final days. The family would like to thank Dr. Ben, nurses and staff at the Dr Charles L LeGrow Heatlh Centre for the care given to Eileen over the last little while. A special thank you to Sadie Lavhey for your care and compassion to Eileen’s niece Rita while visiting Eileen. Your compassion is second to none, and did not get unnoticed.
Family and friends are welcomed to visit on Wednesday, July 10th, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home Inc., 57 Grand Bay Road. The funeral will take place on Thursday, July 11th, 2024 at 2 PM, from East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, officiated by Rev. Jane Allen. Internment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill, TCH. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations in Eileen’s memory can be made to Preserve St. James Campaign email stjamespab@nl.aibn.com.
