Obituary
A warm, generous, hardworking woman, our beautiful mom was filled with a joy for life. She loved babies, dancing, socializing and creating, whether sewing, baking or gardening.
She was the consummate hostess, always able to fit one more spot around the table.
Born on the family farm in Manitoba she and her six siblings (all deceased) were kept busy with chores. During the war she worked as a telephone operator and married Doug Piggott when he returned from overseas. They farmed for several years and operated a cafe. She sold Avon and Monarch to help make ends meet.
In 1964 they moved to Salmon Arm with their five daughters, purchasing the original Shuswap Lodge, which mom ran until 1979. Her sense of fun was very well known. She loved playing cards, scrabble, ping pong and piano. She was a killer crossword puzzler. She lovingly made quilts for her kids and grandkids.
Sadly she lost her second child, Clio, in 1986. Our dad died in 2008.
She is survived by her daughters, Gale (Rob) LeDuc, Charm (Ron) Pitura, June (Walter Share), Darla (Doug) Mackay; eleven grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren. She was able to stay in her home until her death thanks to her granddaughter Karen Trodden and family.
No service at her request. Her ashes will be returned to Manitoba this summer.
