Doris V. Ormiston (nee Pattemore) 1930 – 2023
The family remembers with sorrow and love the life of their mother Doris Ormiston who passed away at Calgary, Alberta on April 12th, in her 94th year.
Doris is survived by her daughters Sandra (Jim) of Dixon, Illinois and Marilyn (Dave) of Calgary, Alberta and her brother Arnel Pattemore of Smiths Falls. She was predeceased by her husband Robert, her daughter Margaret, and her parents Jean and Wilfred Pattemore of Smiths Falls, Ontario. She is survived by her Grandchildren Jeremy Ormiston (Calgary), Jasmine Huyck (Gerry) of Sault Ste. Marie, Travis (Alex) and Benjamin Huyck of Dixon Illinois, and Kendra (Sean) and Erin Wannamaker of Calgary, Alberta. As well as Great Grandchildren Isabelle, Alexandra, Christopher, Nicolas, and Olivia.
Doris moved to Sault Ste. Marie in 1951 to where she continued her teaching career. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree at Queen’s University in 1954. Doris was teacher/librarian with the Algoma District School Board and a co-owner of Dunn’s Authors book store in Wellington Square Mall, in Sault Ste. Marie with her husband Robert. She was an active member of Central United Church in Sault Ste. Marie for many years and a lifetime member of the UCW.
Friends are invited for visitation at Arthur Funeral Home, 492 Wellington Street East, Sault Ste. Marie, ON P6A2L9 on the evening of April 21st and to the funeral at 11:00 a.m. on April 22nd at the Central United Church, 160 Spring St, Sault Ste Marie, ON P6A 3A5 with The Reverend Laurie Stevenson officiating.
In memory of Doris, the family will appreciate donations to Central United Church Memorial Fund, or to a Charity of your choice.
