Penny was born in New Westminster, BC. to William and Doris Bell.
Predeceased by her parents and her brother George, she is survived by her husband Denis, her children Thomas, Trevor and Tracey and her brother Bob (Maureen) and Pat (Donna).
She will be missed by her grandchildren Amber, Brittany, Tyler, Deni and Brianna and her great grandchildren Charlotte and Olivia.
Penny grew up in Honeymoon Bay on Vancouver Island. Her and Denis met in Victoria and were married in 1976. They later settled in Kamloops. Penny worked as a Caregiver for the special needs. She was well liked by the staff and residents in the community.
In retirement, she traveled to many interesting places, Ireland and Africa being at the top of her lists. She really enjoyed wintering in Arizona. She was an avid reader and liked solving her crossword puzzles. Her declining health in the last few years kept her closer to home.
Her backyard became her haven and was designed to accommodate the grandchildren. She enjoyed her flowers and watching the grand kids play. Often, you could find her “coffeeing” with her friend Gerry, on the back deck, solving the world problems.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors on 5th South at RIH, that took care of Penny during her recent stay.
We also thank Dr. Bourdeau for her continuous care and support for Penny.
And a very special thank you to Marissa and Megan at the Ponderosa Day Services. You two special “angels” made it so easier for Penny to participate in the program.
As per Penny’s request, there will be no service. A private gathering with friends and family will take place this spring in her backyard.
