Doreen Emma ( Rossiter) Steeves
1936-2024
Doreen Emma (Rossiter) Steeves, 88, of Forest Dale Home
passed away peacefully on December 13th, 2024 at the nursing
home. The family were so happy she had a great day
on Thursday and they were able to spend some time with her.
She was loved dearly by all her family.
Doreen was born in Point Wolfe on December 4th,
1936 the daughter of the late Gordon and Irene (Bernier)
Rossiter.
Doreen lived in Alma most of her life. She grew
up in a large family and being one of the older children took on a
lot of responsibility at a young age, caring for
some of her siblings. She worked at The Alpine
Motel in Alma and then got a job with Fundy National Park where she
worked until her retirement. She met and married the love of
her life, Jim Steeves, and the two were married and started their
family together. Family was everything to Doreen.
She was so proud of her two boys and then when they married and
started families of their own, the grandchildren were her pride and
joy. She was like a mother to her brother, Eric,
and she considered him one of her boys. She took family
responsibilities to the next level. She enjoyed all the visits from
her family and friends. Doreen was an avid bingo player and
if the car was going she was in it. She was the
type of lady who would tell you how she felt, whether you
wanted to know it or not. She had a great sense of humour
and loved to laugh and carry on. She has left many wonderful
memories to cherish. The family finds comfort in the fact
Doreen is at peace and with her loved ones that have gone on before
her having a great reunion, she missed them all so
much.
«Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not
the end, they simply mean we’ll miss you until we meet
again.»
She will be deeply missed by her son, Paul Steeves (Nancy)
of Hillsborough; daughter-in-law, Geraldine Steeves of Hillsborough;
special brother, Eric Rossiter (Marla) of Alma; her precious
grandchildren, Stephanie (Rodney) of Riverview, Sonya (Luke) of Lutes
Mountain, Leslie (Norris) of Amherst and Justin (Leanne) of Shilo, MB;
precious great grandchildren, Hannah, Dylan, Dakota, Dawson, Caleb,
Jayden, Peyton, Jackson and Nikolas; brothers, Malcolm Rossiter (Ruth)
of Salem, John Rossiter (Bettyanne) of Riverview, Milburn Rossiter
(Brenda) of South Branch, Earl Rossiter (Monica) of Beaverbrook and
Roy Rossiter of Moncton. She will also be missed by several
nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her
beloved husband James Douglas Steeves, her treasured son, James
Douglas Steeves Jr. «Jimmy»; sisters, Gertrude Rossiter,
Irene Way (Terry), Carol Nelson (Herbert), Jean Taylor; brother,
Hilyard Rossiter (Vivian).
The family will be having a time of visitation at the
Albert County Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7-9pm.
The Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December
18th, 2024 at 2:00pm with Pastor Leonard Geldart
