Dora Smith Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Dora Smith on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the age of 78.
Dora leaves to mourn her children; Gwen Hunter (Cecil Houle), Barry Hunter (Melodie Hunter), Michael Hunter (Connie Chartrand), and Tommy Hunter (Mary Eastman); 34 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren: numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members.
Dora was predeceased by; her parents Louis and Louisa Hunter; sisters Roseanna Meeches, Adele Baptiste, Angela Hunter, and Mary Davis; baby brother Larry Hunter Sr.; her beloved daughter Sheri Smith; grandchildren Jordan Lee Malcolm, Savannah Hunter, Paige Hunter, Jourdan Lee Contois, Dionne Constant and Great grandson Kelly Hunter Jr.
Dora was a very caring person to everyone that she crossed paths with. She had taken on the responsibility to care for her very special grandson Jordan Lee Malcolm, and numerous other children, that she cared for as well. She played a very important role in the lives of her family, sharing life lessons, guidance, family history and traditional stories. One of her favorite hobbies was going to bingo with her daughter Sheri and going to the city to play cards with her family. Dora loved to cook for her family, and always encouraged her grandchildren to watch and learn her recipes. Dora had a very crazy sense of humour with her family and knew how to joke around with them. Though our family will miss her dearly, we find comfort knowing that she is reunited with her daughter, parents, siblings, grandchildren and great grandson.
A wake and prayer services will be held on Wednesday, June 12th , 2024 at 5:00 pm in the Ebb and Flow Community Complex, Ebb and Flow First Nation. Family and friends wishing to escort Dora home to the complex are asked to meet at Sneath-Strilchuk’s Ste. Rose Chapel at 4:00 pm on Wednesday.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the Ebb and Flow Community Complex, Ebb and Flow First Nation. Fr. Moise Adossou will officiate with the services concluding at the Community Complex. In accordance with Dora’s wishes, cremation will take place following the service and an interment in the Ebb and Flow Cemetery will take place at a future date.
