Mary Elizabeth Traver was born in Jerseyville on March 25th, 1925 – almost 100 years ago. Although we are sad to lose her, we are relieved that our gracious mother is finally at peace.
Betty moved to Dundas as a teenager. In 1943, she married Bob Donovan, who passed away in 2007. Together they raised their family at 11 York Street in Dundas: Donna Jean Wignall (John 2016), John Michael (2008), Ronald Patrick (Patricia 2024), and Roberta MaryEllen Ziegler (Dennis).
The family grew with the addition of 12 cherished grandchildren: John Wignall, Greg Wignall, Chris Wignall, Jane Dosman, Lauri Donovan, Carri Harrison, Joel Ward, Alethea Donovan, Nathan Donovan, Joelle Ross, Cindy Maracle, and Angela Kerr. Now, there are a “great” number of great grandchildren and, even, great great grandchildren.
Betty was an active member of St. Paul’s United Church for many years. She was a loyal friend to so many people. After about 60 years on York Street, Mom moved to Bertram Place and, eventually, to Wentworth Lodge. We are grateful to her many caregivers who assisted in her senior years.
Betty’s life will be remembered and honored at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas ON with a visitation on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, September 23rd, 2024 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Canada or The SPCA.
