It is with sorrow in our hearts that we share the news of the death of our mother, Donna Jean Warren (nee. Moore) on February 7, 2023 after a heroic battle with kidney disease. Donna spent her childhood on the family farm near Blenheim, Ontario where she developed her love of family, reading, sports, gardening, knitting and politics. In 1948, she married George Clinton Warren of Erieau, and they were inseparable for the next sixty-nine years. They first settled in Toronto while Clint earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from U of T. Donna and Clint moved to different cities in Ontario as he earned promotions during his 34-year career with Ontario Hydro. Together, they raised four children, Jane (John), David (Cynthia), Margaret (Bill) and Betty (Tim). They were doting grandparents to Ryan (Jen), Scott (Stephanie), Daniel, Rebecca (Brandon), Jonathan (Hilary), Steven (Alicia), Amy (Richard), Jennifer (Matt) and Evan. Proud great-grand parents to Ethan, Molly, Maeve, Reese, Declan, Gallagher, Devyn, Logan, Neveah, Skyler, Nazir, Lucas and Trevor. Family always came first. The love and support given to all of us over the years was truly unconditional. We will all treasure the memories of the joyous celebrations, the special days and outings spent with them at their home in Toronto or their cottage in Erieau. Her interest in current affairs remained vibrant and she was always keen to learn your opinion of political leaders and the latest trends. She taught herself to navigate her iPad in her nineties and was able to keep up-to-date during the pandemic.
We wish to thank the amazing staff of the Scarborough Retirement Residence for their compassionate care over the last years. Although it was a difficult time of outbreaks, restrictions, protocols and testing, the staff remained positive and always went the extra mile to provide a safe and caring environment full of activities to interest mom. She did her best to disguise it, but Mom missed Dad terribly. Now reunited in love, enjoying a good laugh together like old times while listening to a lyric from their song, “I’ll be loving you, always…”
A private family service will be held in Blenheim. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation in memory of Donna be directed to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre—Nephrology Research and Education Fund donate.sunnybrook.ca or Variety Village.
