Beloved life partner of 38 years with the late Clarence Dupuis (2020).
Cherished mother to Keith and his spouse Tori Doan of Dallas, Texas. A loving grandmother to Daniel and Peter Doan of Dallas.
Preceded in death by her parents George (1982) and mother Ethel (1966). Loving sister to the late Carol, Roy and George Bailey.
A loving aunt to Gary and Vicki Bailey and great aunt to their daughters Brooke and Hope. Mom loved all her brothers in law and sisters in law immensely. Lee Bailey, Walt and Aileen Driscoll, Donald and Rita Doan, Jack and Kay Doan. Donna loved their kids/ her nieces and nephews and their spouses: Donna, Pat, Barbara, Shirley, Brian and Jeffrey. ‘Hi Aunt Donna’ was a beautiful greeting to her for over 70 years.
Mom loved every minute of camping for decades at Jellystone, Leisure Lake and for 34 years; Camper’s Cove with her greatest love; Clarence. She loved bowling, bingos, word find puzzles, euchre, all card games and the casinos. She loved her 15 plus years going to Daytona Beach for the winters and dancing with her sweet man. Fiercely independent she battled breast cancer and won in the 1990s.
In a neighbourhood of Windsor West, she like many single moms was her child’s heroine. Curry Avenue for 10 plus years was made stronger by the love. class, grace and support of women like Donna to the kids and culture of the neighbourhood.
Donna will also be missed tremendously by her friend and bingo partner of 75 plus years; Mrs. Catherine Miller.
Saddened by her passing are Paul & Lisa Sureau and their children Sara and Adam of Windsor, Cheryl & Darren Small of Chicago and Mike & Rachel Kennedy of Michigan. Mom was also loved by her daughters in law Erin and the late Allison Doan.
A special note of love and gratitude to Mary Jo and Larry who gave special kindness and love to mom in the last few years. Mom felt their love and kindness until she achieved her Victory.
A special thank you to Shoreview staff for the 3 plus years of care and love received there.
Mom spent years involved at the Legion and with the OB’s. The time and friendships made there gave her tremendous joy.
To all who knew and loved George Bailey’s daughter. It really was a wonderful life.
Growing up, Mom had a plaque that read ‘true friends are like diamonds, precious but rare, false friends are like autumn leaves found everywhere’ – for Donna and for those who will forever love her….thank you all for being true friends.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life and burial will take place in the summer.
If you’re so inclined, donations to Cystic Fibrosis of Canada in honour of her great niece, the late Hollie Beaumont Leamont daughter of Patricia Doan Macdonald or to Breast Cancer wherever you or a heroine of yours is fighting would be greatly appreciated
