Donna Lorraine Chaffey passed away peacefully and went home to Jesus on April 9 at age 67 after a difficult battle with ALS.
Donna was born to Cyril and Ida Janes on August 23,1956 in Gander, NL. As a child, she was a bright student and an active child. As the second oldest of 9 children, she helped to keep her sister and 7 brothers in line (or lead them into shenanigans!).
Donna met her husband Clayton in 1977 at the Gander swimming pool. They married on January 14, 1978 and went on to have two children, Andrew Clayton and Angela Donna. They lived in Halifax (Lantz), NS from 1982-89 then in Calgary, AB until 2013 when they returned to Donna’s hometown of Traytown, NL, renovating her childhood home to enjoy during their retirement years.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife and mother, Donna also loved quilting, reading, hiking and outdoors activities, gardening, German Shepherds, playing guitar and hockey, and volunteering at the local food bank. Throughout her entire life, Donna held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.
Donna joins parents Cyril & Ida, brother Roger, and sister-in-law Elizabeth “Bette” Payne in Heaven. She is survived by husband Clayton, son Andrew (Nice), daughter Angela, brothers Robert Payne, David Janes (Phyllis), Gordon Janes (Patricia), Albert Janes (Josephine), Norman Janes (DeAnn), John Janes (Kelly), sister Margaret Harmon (G. Maxwell), and a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
The funeral service will be held at the Glovertown Salvation Army church on Wed, April 17 at 2pm NDT. The service will be live streamed from Oram’s Funeral Home – Facebook Page. There will be no visitation/viewing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Society of Newfoundland or the Glovertown food bank (Salvation Army Glovertown, Community and Family Services, PO Box 243, Glovertown, NL A0G2L0)

Donna, you will always be in our hearts and we will never forget you and your tenacity, adventurous spirit, sense of humour, and generous heart. We love you so much. Rest in peace and rise in glory.
