Obituary of Donald Gordon Peterson
Don passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at the age of 76.
He is survived by his loving wife Lynne of 53 years, his son and daughter-in-law Adam and Rachel, grandsons Carter and Nolan, and nephews Josh and Richard O’Hagan. He is predeceased by his parents, Paul and Grace, sister Cathy, and grandson JellyBean.
Don was an outgoing people person, who was always looking over the horizon for the next adventure. He was devoted to his family and developed lifelong friendships with those he met on his many excursions through the years. He valued sports, travel, reading, and a good bourbon. He played, coached, and watched football throughout his life, coached track and field, and played a variety of racquet sports such as pickleball and squash.
Outside of sports, he could be found on vacation with his family and loved ones or on the front porch with a book and a good drink in hand. No matter where he was, he always treasured sitting next to his family and watching his grandsons grow. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A special thank you to Dr. Knight and his oncology team at the Grand River Cancer Centre who extended his battle with cancer and blessed him with many more years and memories with his loved ones, as well as the Waterloo Hospice Centre.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo on Saturday, January 13 from 1pm – 3pm. Condolences for the family and/or charitable donations to the Grand River Cancer Centre or KidsAbility can be made through www.erbgood.com.
