Donald J.E. DeRoche
1934-2024
The death occurred after a short illness, with family by his
side at the PEI Palliative Care Centre, Charlottetown, PE, on Tuesday,
July 16, 2024 of Donald DeRoche of South Rustico in his 91st
year.
Donald was the beloved husband of the late Eileen DeRoche
(nee Gallant).
He was the proud father of Christopher DesRoches, Karen Barry
(Gerry), Alden DeRoche (Nadine), and Lisa DeRoche.
Loving Papa of Cameron, Samuel, Connor, and
Jay.
Donald is also survived by his siblings Marjorie Allen, Leo
Doiron, Doris Ouelette, Gloria Wenning; sisters-in-law Isabel DeRoche,
Elsie Pineau, and brother-in-law Alban Pineau; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Donald was pre-deceased by his parents John (Jack) DeRoche
and Sara Evelyn DeRoche (nee Wells); siblings Wally, John, Pat,
Herman, Marie, Mary, Shirley, and Valerie; brothers-in-law Omar,
Elmer, Alyre, Chris, Peter, and Leo; and sisters-in-law Bertha and
Louise.
Donnie was a true jack of all trades. He had a hand in the
construction of many buildings across the Island. Even in his
retirement, he enjoyed «supervising» projects from
afar. Many locals knew that if they needed something repaired, they
could just call in and Donnie would fix them up. He was also a
talented musician, playing guitar at many functions. His most favoured
performances were in the kitchen with family and friends. More
importantly, he was renowned for his fudge making abilities. Faces
would just light up with a delivery of «Don Fudge».
He will truly be missed.
Resting at Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home,
Charlottetown, PE. No visitation by personal request. The funeral will
be celebrated on Saturday, July 20th, at 10:30 am at St.
Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, South Rustico. Interment
to follow at St. Augustine’s Cemetery.

Care, QEH Emergency Dept., Unit 1 (especially Dr. Neily), and the
Palliative Care Centre for their care, support, and
compassion.
