Unfortunately, Don left us suddenly and unexpectedly, at Royal Inland Hospital.
He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba raised, with his sister Judy, by two wonderful parents Peter and Michalina (Lena) Holly. Don made many lifelong friends in Manitoba as well as meeting his life long love, Donna Woytowich.
Don always followed his dreams. After completing his schooling, he pursued his passions with cars, aircraft and of course with Donna. He was promoted in his job at Air Canada, while Donna became an outstanding teacher in the Manitoba school system.
Don ran many competitive and show winning drag racing cars with Donna and close friends who were there for support on their way to success.
Don and Donna were married August 7, 1971 and had a son, Brian Joseph Holly in September of 1974.
As Don’s passions for performance cars and self employment grew, they decided to move to Kamloops, BC in 1977 and start up shop in a warmer climate. Don soon fell in love with large hills to ride his motorcycle on, the fishing, the lifestyle, and milder winters, yet, always missing his close friends and family on the prairies.
They started out rather prosperous in Kamloops, opening a welding shop and a legendary automotive shop, Sagebrush Performance Ltd where Don grew his expertise and became “the guy” in town when it came to repairs, modifications, racing, and performance. He managed to make friends and contacts throughout North America among the hot rod and performance industry, even designing parts at times for major manufacturers.
Don spent most of the rest of his life continuing his passion for classic and performance cars while keeping in touch with his aircraft roots. He was still “tinkering” before he left us. He worked at times with his son Brian and impacted him as well as so many people with his vast knowledge, dad jokes, kindness, and stories.
This great man lost his wife Donna in 2019 just before their 49th Wedding Anniversary and it definitely broke his heart.
Don leaves behind, his son Brian and his wife Tammy, his amazing grandchildren Lily and Noah. Further, the many life long and new friends he had who adored his wonderful, quirky and fun personality.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Don in Spring/Summer of 2024 in Kamloops, BC.
