Obituary
With gratitude for a life well lived, we announce that Domenico Fontana passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at the age of 80 years.
Domenico was born the youngest of eight children on April 5, 1943 in Torino di Sangro, Chieti, Italy, to loving parents. Sadly, at just two months old, Domenico lost his father to war injuries. He grew up with limited means, but this never bothered him. In fact, Domenico insisted on living a simple life, because he said it would still always be more than what he had growing up.
He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and refused to go inside before the sun went down. He loved spending time with friends, always wanting to know when and where the party was. However, the best part of every day for Domenico was having dinner with his family. He had a wonderful sense of humour and was always ready with a joke. They were not always new jokes…and you were expected to laugh no matter how many times you’d heard it before, but the goal to spread joy was always there. Domenico was also a hard worker, ready to give his all to every task he undertook. Whether it was operating his CAT D-10 dozer or volunteering for the Italian community, he could be counted on to make sure things were done.
Domenico is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Ida; his grateful children Silvia(Oliver), and Steven(Christi); but especially, his greatest gift, his grandchildren Sofia, Olivia, Matteo, and Stella; as well as his sister Maria (Italy) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church (1714 14 Ave NE) on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 11:00 am with livestreaming* available through the link below for those unable to attend in person.
