Dolores Monica Bartholet had her birthday into heaven on April 21, 2023, at Heritage House in Oliver, B.C. She was held in the arms of her daughters and surrounded by family.
Dolores is survived by her daughters; Cindy Bartholet (Doug), and Debra Arthur (Scott); four grandchildren, Melissa Peet (nee Bartholet) (Matt), Greg Bartholet, Jennifer Hamelin (Nee Arthur) (Troy), and Michelle Arthur (Dave); four great-grandchildren, Trinity Bartholet, Natalie Peet, and Theo and Emmie Hamelin; as well as nieces and nephews Dawn Dowd (Alvin), Trish Croal, and Robert, Shelly and Tracy Gerstmeyer.
Dolores was born in Kelowna, B.C. on February 27, 1938.
She requested there be no formal funeral service. A private family gathering will be held at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery.
Dolores’ mother and father had three children; Dolores, Marion, and Robert. Dolores was predeceased by her mother (Mary Ann) and father (Robert Gerstmeyer), step-father (Gilbert Eraut), and her sister and brother. Her husband Bernard Bartholet passed away on October 25, 2011, and she has missed him every day.
Dolores and Bern lived at mile 392 on the Alaska Highway and then moved to a ten-acre orchard in Oliver, B.C. in 1968. The orchard was also home to 13 cats as Debbie and Cindy always found and brought home kittens. Dolores loved the orchard and she loved to garden. She also loved to play the piano, cook, bake, and can. We always found a new asparagus patch while on walks with Mom.
The family would like to thank Dr. Myslek and the staff at Heritage House. A special thank you to Dr. Calder, Olga from M.A.I.D co-ordination services, and Tracy from the health unit for the care and compassion shown to our mom and family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the S.P.C.A to honour Mom’s love of animals.
