Obituary of Dixie Lynn Alkier
Passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Monday, June 19, 2023 at the age of 76.
Dixie was born in the Prairies, and spent time in Germany and Montreal before settling in Waterloo. She was an outgoing person who was friendly and kind to everyone she met. She also liked to keep active, and enjoyed playing tennis and attending fitness classes. Dixie obtained her Masters in Library Science from McGill University and worked for many years as a librarian. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren.
Dixie will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Michael, son Michael and his wife Kelly, grandchildren Tatum, Justin, and Amelie, sister Laura Leah, and her nephews Aaron Hansen and Dan Steiman. She was predeceased by her parents Harry and Dorothy Allan, and her sister Debbie.
Special thanks to her caregiver Marites “Tess” Buensuceso for the wonderful care she gave to Dixie over the last 6+ years.
Cremation has taken place. A private family ceremony will be held.
