Obituary
DIETER HANNAWALD
July 1933 – November 2023
Dieter was born in Schwartzenberg, East Germany. He fled to West Germany in 1953, where he met his beloved wife and soulmate, Antonia, in 1954. They married in 1956 and immigrated to Canada in 1957 where he started his successful painting and decorating business.
Dieter loved the outdoors and nature. He enjoyed many happy years spent with family and friends at the cottage that he built.
He was a very devoted, loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He loved his family and was always there to do anything for them and his friends. Dieter will always be remembered for his fierce love of his family, his gentle nature and for the respect he had for everyone he met.
He will be forever missed by his loving family, his wife Antonia of 67 wonderful years; daughters Ingrid (Steve) and Barbara (Steve); grandchildren Jennifer (Ansel), Kristina (Vedad), Ian and Nicole (Harvey); great grandchildren Nathan, Shayla and Arthur.
Dieter will be greatly missed by family, friends and neighbours in Canada, Germany and the USA.
Special thanks to all of the kind and caring staff at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital for their exceptional care.
